Hugo has Down’s syndrome, and is a client of one of CAPDA’s Tanzanian partner organisations. Before we met him, he had been living in an old shed attached to his family home, and lacked the capacity to contribute to the upkeep of the family.
Hugo was given two goats as part of a project funded by CAPDA, and was taught to tend and milk them. He has successfully grown and maintained his small herd for more than four years.
The income he receives from selling milk and goats has allowed him to gain a basic level of financial independence, as well as the respect of his family and community.
